STEYR HUNTER 5A (scout).

Its better they take time and get it right than them rushing it back to you just to be returned again like Daystate did with me 🙄
Believe me i know how frustrating it is having to return tge gun a second time because it wasnt correctly fixed or checked over the first time

100%

I told them I would prefer to get it back in the New Year with more confidence that the issue had definitely been fixed.

No! (IMO)

I would fix the the adaptor on with a smidgens of blue (or less) Loctite without using the grub screw!

You have 2 choices when using the grub screw: 1) You tighten it solid (and mark the barrel) 2) You tighten it slightly (and then risk a circular gouge forming on the barrel when you try and unscrew the mod without restraining the adaptor).

Loctite, or similar, solve the issue.

IMO, Steyr should countersink the barrel precisely where their 1/2 unf adaptor sits!

I used a couple of turns of PTFE tape to make it a better (tight) fit on the barrel. I cut a thin leather disc which sits inside the grub screw hole - the screw then bears down on that. I put a touch of blue Loctite on the thread. That's held perfectly and seems to be accurately centred. The Natechrony displays a 'confidence' number for each shot to warn of possible misalignment and I get 98-100% which is as good as it gets. 75% is considered 'acceptable' and 85% 'ideal'.

I previously tried the Best Fittings adapter on my H5A and that did slightly mark the barrel when it twisted. This was barely visible with the shorter Steyr adapter on, but it upset my OCD :D Luckily black heat shrink tube is an almost perfect match for the barrel coating :)

What's happened with mine is that the half inch adapter was taken off by a third party when I had some work done on the Rifle...my own fault for not checking it was fully tightened before using & the bloody thing dropped off taking the moderator with it 😭...no damage to the latter but its taking a small chunk of paint off the end of the coated barrel which drives me nuts as I know it's there!... although it can't be seen when the adapter is on.

I've tried touching it up but can't get the thickness of coating correct... any ideas how I can get around it 🤔

Usually I say to customers if we cant hide it we'll make a feature out of it.. byt not sure how you could do that either?

t.b.h Matt... unless I took the adapter off you'd never no 😉.. but I'm a fussy sod & know its there.
I used to use the HUNTER 5 scout without the moderator as I personally don't think there's much crack off them apart from the click of trigger which is normal on them all...I haven't taken the mod off since the end of barrel lost that bit of paint as it spoils my whole day (sad but true).... perhaps I'm not wired right 🫣.

Yeah! Mr @BTB 500 has an answer?? @ #163 (heat shrink)

Slightly off topic but did you purchase anything today Matt 🤔
I fell in love with the Taipan. The Blackwolf Zero was lovely, but a little.. I can't say boring because it wasn't, but it wasn't the Taipan.
I'm now sat here trying to decide what to buy. Long or shot, and AR or thumb hole. To be honest i dont even really care what caliber it's in😅

Is there a dedicated Taipan thread on here do you know?

Been a while since I replied on this thread.

I wasn't overly pleased with the Steyr mod adapter. I soon ditched that and went with a custom carbon shroud. This has around 5 inches on mod in front of the barrel..

Have experimented with different depth pellet seating tools. Honestly I cannot see much difference on accuracy depending on how far the pellets go into the magazines.
Although I've had a few odd sounding shots when the pellets are pushed deeper in the mag..

Just a few magazines there Nick? ;)

Haha! How are the 3D printed ones holding up to regular use? I had my doubts thinking as they are shot from the magazine, the high pressure blast each shot against laid down 3D printing filament might eventually cause them to weaken and start splitting.

Pure conjecture so I'd like to see what they are like first hand from somebody who uses them (y)
