New pistol arrived today. No revolvers ever over 40 years of owning airguns and now this is my second since Xmas.

The backstory to this one is my father in law died early December and my wife found and air pistol in his possessions which I was subsequently given to sell on to help pay for his funeral (long story!) Anyway, I had a go with it at home in my indoor range to check it was working before selling and was really surprised how good it was. Now, unfortunately I only tested it on 6 yard targets and I put groups in as tidy as I do with my Walther LP500. Anyway, I sold that on to @robs5230 who's local to me and we both use Shebbear shooters range. Rob told me he had the 586 3 barrel set previously and regretted selling it, but was pleased to get hold of the pretty much unused nickel one of my F-I-L. Roll on a week or two and Rob tells me that a rare as hens teeth 3 barrel set is for sale on another forum. As Robs been buying far too many pistols over Xmas his piggy bank couldn't take another hammering and really mine shouldn't have either, but there you go. New to me, 3 barrel 586 set arrived today.

This is it next to my M29 which I bought for Xmas.

Finally, a 10 round group after I got the sights on. By the time I'd put it over the chrono with all 3 barrels I only had 3 groups of 10 to zero. This was the last 10 shots (51-60); two handed supported. Not claiming its fantastic, I'm sure I can tighten it up when I get a feel for it properly. At the moment this group is possibly a tad better than what I've done with the M29 which is a BB version but I use pellets in it.

I'll do some better head to head testing later. I'm also looking forward to trying the other barrels out too.

The earlier polished versions are so much better than the later satin finished ones, and the complete 3 barrel sets are rare and desirable.
Pretty much the cream of the crop of all the Umarex CO2 lineup.

And yes if I hadn't already committed to something, I'd have bought that myself

i believe once the 8 inch barrel is installed the others never get played with but i could be wrong
You could well be right, but I will give them a try. The fps readings were quite interesting with a slight difference between 4 and 6 inch barrels, but quite a different between the 6 and 8 inch.

Guys, whats the power difference with each barrel length on these?????

This was just a quick one yesterday. Econ 2 using my Skan. Temp 9C. 5 shots with the ave stated. Testing started after 5 shots from a new Co2 capsule with the 4", then 6" and finally 8".
4" 287 fps 2.83J 2.08 ft/lbs
6" 298 fps 3.05J 2.25 ft/lbs
8" 360 fps 4.45J 3.28 ft/lbs

I did the fps, just used online calcs for the rest.

Wow wow wow! 😃😃😃🥰🥰🥰🥰

I'm not convinced those calcs are right. Just used a different one which looks right.
4" 287 fps = 1.35 ft/lb
6" 298 fps = 1.46 ft/lb
8" 360 fps = 2.13 ft/lb

Haven't checked your figures properly Bob, but they look a lot more like they should for a .177 shooting 7.4gr Econ II pellets. Similar velocity/power to what I see my little old series 2 Webley Junior producing over the chrono.

Yeah, I'm certain they are right. I was surprised myself when 3 ft/lb came out as I thought the Co2 guns were around the 1-2 ft/lb mark.

This is what i thought, but ive recently learnt that with co2 guns, the longer the barrel, more power, if id have known this id have kept my 586 and wouldve some how connected all the barrels 🤣😂🤭🤭🤭🤭🤭

Got a 6" stainless.
I think it was with Hobby's, bench rested with scope at 10m a 5 pence coin would cover the group (y)

I can't shoot it that well double handed on irons, unless group size is defined as a Beer can :)

Top tip for those with the early 'shiny blued' finish on Umarex pistols. Don't use WD40 or similar on the finish as it will go cloudy, as it eats the lacquer. Just wipe it with a microfibre cloth
Nice 3 barrel set
👍
Thanks for the info. Being I got this second hand it is what it is. Nothing like the M29 finish as can be seen in the pics, it's a much darker black. I'm not sure how this compares to the original finish they were in? I use Napier spray on a cloth for all my guns.

I've done lots of shooting tonight but putting lots of pictures will have to wait....I'm hungry. Have to make do with this one for now
