Only Vans

I was lucky if I got 8 trouble free weeks out of our T5.
Sounds like it was probably a 2.5?!
Sorry to hear you've had a rough run of VW&co stuff. Of 20+ VAG vehicles over the last 15 odd years I've only had one really problematic one, and that was a GTD Golf that turned out to have a hole in a piston.
Sounds like you'be got a peach in that Tourano though 👌🏽

My van hasn’t moved off my driveway for six months, it needs a clutch but I keep spending my “clutch money” on guns 🙄😂. A couple of pictures from last year

If I gotta travel more than 10 miles to a job, Don’t wanna know
If I can’t park within 6 mtrs of property, Don’t wanna know 👍😜View attachment 635463
Nice Van.

Absolutely Agree.

I had to walk 1/2 a mile with my gear to and 1/2 a mile back with my gear from the only available parking spot just before Christmas and it's not just Christmas traffic either- it's worse in term times.

I'm changing things a bit in the new year.

It was a 1.9 and seemingly suffered every VW fault known. Ill not bore you with the full list but included dual mass flywheel (the passats failed two just 2 weeks before the warranty expired!), drive shaft splines (not greased on assembly by the factory), fuel radiator corrosion, coolant pipe corrosion, glow plug loom failure, rear spring breakage (used by an antique dealer previously so hardly overloaded) - the list went on. It did have plus points such as euro 4 tax band, economical for its size. Over £3500 in repairs over 3 years was a bitter pill to swallow for a 50,000 miler though.
I fancied the Hyundai i800 afterwards but it was far too expensive and dropped into the new punitive tax bands. Shame but for the mileage I do - about 5k a year - it couldnt be justified. Folk I know that have them rate them highly - curiously theyve all had Transporters before 🤔
The Ford is just coming up to 47,000 miles and is almost ready for a new pair of tyres 😉

Steve (wot thinks that after 120 odd years of car building they should all come with a minimum of 15 years warranty by now)

I used to have a motorhome but only used it 4 times in one year so I sold it and bought a MK8 Transit and have been converting into a camper over the last 4 YEARS!!! and I have only slept in it once 😳
I have all that I need,Solar power,240v Inverter,Flushing toilet,Shower with hot water,Diesel heater,Double hob and sink,TV,L shaped sofa that pulls out into a double bed … I will get it finished one day

Agreed pal it's a nightmare,I hate S10 never any parking and they all have attic bedrooms which getting materials up is a right pain let alone all the tools

It adds 5 X more time to the jobs too.
I might part x the van vs a helicopter.
Easier to park, just tie it up and leave it running.........

Hi pal that's very nice,My old van was not clean air zone compliant so I decided to get a new one.I got a lwb partner.I use it for camping, work and fishing.I fitted hard floor and shelves etc so it's easy to change for each task. When camping I can sleep in it and all my gear has a space.I carp fish and bivvy up so again everything has a place.
I had slide side windows fitted in the doors. You can't beat been outdoors with a beer and a bbq
Is that Diesel or petrol? I have got a petrol 7 seater Vauxhall Combo 4 life which I used for short trips as diesel dpf dont like it

Hi pal it's a diesel,it's my first relatively new van I've only had older ones,I was surprised by the power and good mpg for a small engine

Yeah the diesels are very fugal on fuel but the Adblue is problematic especially on short journeys,My workshop is only 2.6miles away so it would Fcukup in no time

Oh right do they need to get up to temperature to work correctly

No the Adblu is just a shite creation all together which could leave you stranded if it decides to give a false reading to say that you don't have enough in the tank even tho you do! and DPF filters are prone to clogging if only used for short trips where it doesn't get hot enough,I had the Adblu mapped out of my Transit and I have never put any in it since I bought it,I use my Petrol Combo to get to work and my Diesel Transit if going out for more than a couple of hours

I do love a nice bit of van porn! I've an old beater which is LWB auto Viano - she is 20 this year and hardly worthy in this company but incredibly useful vehicle to have around.

My crappy vivaro. Was my work van, been sitting on my drive for the last year and half now. Debating whether to put a poptop on and turn it into a day van, seeing as noone wanted to buy it.
