I'm still in the middle of building mine. Track is down and ballasted. All track wiring is done, and a few buildings have been built, but not yet permanently installed. Semaphore signals are also installed and operational, with leds in the lamps for illumination.

Signal box, with signalman showing yellow flag for a shunt move. Ground signal is for shunting from a different line.

Operating panel. MERG modules used to minimise wiring. Connection from panel to layout consists of just 4 wires.

I still have my "N" gauge layout, it's not very pretty but it was working the last time I had rolling stock on it which must be about 8 or 9 years ago. It hasn't got any electronic switches or lighting fitted and the turnout's are all manually operated. It doesn't have a specific era either, I just bought rolling stock and sets that I liked the look of.

I took a pic of my Gresley Mallard and did a little photoshopping.

I had a small layout after inheriting some 00 gauge stuff from my late brother. Unfortunately, it was taking up too much room so I dismantled it. Not sure if I still have any photos, but I now have boxes and boxes of locos, rolling stock, landscaping, trees, buildings, fencing, road signs and many other accessories to sort out at some time for disposal. I must say that I really enjoyed building the layout and it was a shame that I had to dismantle it🙁

My dad liked model trains and he built a big layout in the loft.
He said it was for us kids 🤣 ..... and occasionally he let us into the loft to play with it.🤣
Photo taken in about 1957 . . . I am the smallest one.

I remember a kid in our street in the early 50’s, who’s dad worked as an engineer fo Post Office Telephones (Showing my age again 😂) and built a Hornby Dublo layout which took up the whole of their back room so about 12ft x 12ft with a small hatch in the centre where the controllers were. I’d never seen anything like it and was so envious as my parents could never have afforded something like that. The detail was fantastic. His dad was a clever chap, he also built a 3ft tall working robot from Meccano. How I envied that kid.
