I bought a cheap auction site special about 6 months ago for just over £20. They are a bit dearer now.

Very low tech and basic but, so far, I have used it to chrono a springer, pcp and 22lr rifle for separate use with strelok pro and to set up the ballistic calculator on my Arken Zulus. I haven't got another chrono to compare accuracy against but all seems to work so far. Ideally I would like something a bit more substantial but it has served the basic purpose. I then inputted my fps pellet velocity and pellet weight on a ft/lb converter website to work that out too.

These work perfectly... An absolute bargain.
I just transfer the readings onto a spreadsheet and get the powers and a nice graph.

had zero issues with my FX.
The fact that you can easily email / share results is an added bonus.
I also added a cheap usb fake battery setup so it can be used for extended periods with a battery bank.

Not withstanding being able to dig out a gold nugget in the form of a Combro (sadly no longer made but can be found for around £40-60 occasionally), I can highly recommend a @NateChrony one. They're not at all expensive for what you can do with it.

Another vote for one of these, Ali express have them for around £15. Cheap and works really well.

These are brilliant. I've had mine a year and a half and have only had to charge it once in that time and I use it regularly. Accurate, no frills, and does the job

+1 for this model from Ali Express, was delivered in about 5 days

LMBR for me, I know they are not especially cheap but they genuinely will last for ever and a very accurate.. Combro’s great but easy to shoot and fragile for ham fisted folk like me, and FX chrono’s are like their guns in that it’s pot luck if you get one that works.. lots of complaints about them on the internet (i have personally had four faulty ones)

I bought by LMBR off eBay for £50.00 secondhand so they are out there at bargain prices occasionally

Strong as well as I put 60 rounds of .44 mag through mine on Tuesday (load development) and it’s still works perfectly

The cheapo Chinese ones others have highlighted work fine, I only ever used mine in m/s mode and just converted.
Unfortunately I had a little ‘accident’ with it eventually and now have an FX. I far prefer the latter very easy to use and everything is on your phone, however it is £150 vs £25 so the choice is yours.

As above the cheap ali express one work well had mine 3 or 4 years rechageable battery lasts ages and it reads the same as my combro, good value for money and easy to use.

I’ve used the fx chrono for a few years now and never had a problem. Down load the app on your phone and you are good to go. 👍🏻

These are the ones I always recommend when someone uses the word "budget". They don't come any cheaper and they are invariably reliably accurate enough for the average shooter who isn't going to use it for tuning.

If it's checking legality and wanting to get a broad idea of how the gun is performing, they do a grand job for very little.

"Tuning" and "Chrono on a budget" isn't much of a thing, I don't think. 😆
