Do you think an aluminium one would do the job. Easier to work by hand. It looks like one could be made out of steel in a couple of hours.

I was thinking Aluminium, apart from as @nobby said the pin at the end. When in position this is the part that is under most stress.

Don't know if this is the reason yours doesn't cock, but the trigger unit itself, needs to be indexed correctly. There's a sort of cog...

Looks like the original part might be a forging or stamping. In any case there has been enough force at some time to break a piece out...

I don't think it's under any such strain when fitted. I think its been done when the retaining pin was refitted after work on the gun...

Its not integral to operation of the rifle, it would just be nice if i could get it replaced or fixed.

Approx 30mm at longest points. The hole is 5mm diameter. Correct @nobby there is a bit missing.

If it doesn't interfere with operations, I wouldn't bother going to the trouble. Safety catches don't make a gun safe.

Lining up the right hand side fracture, by eye, it looks like there might be a third fragment that has gone missing.

Might have to make a new one. Save the bits as a pattern just in case.
