I popped onto a farm last night that borders the last farm I was out on from last week.

The weather was a lot cooler and forecast to get down to 0° with a ground frost in the middle of May. However there was no wind and no moon so I was looking forward to a good mooch about the yard and surrounding fields.

The sun was still up when I arrived. This land is pasture and arable land.

Surrounded by hills.....

A lovely place to spend a few hours.

I wasn't going to bother with bait as this place doesnt require it and it can spook them some times when a new food source is introduced.

The sun dropped away and I got to it.

I opted for the sub 12 again in .22, R10 SE carbine huma regged.

Some good sized adults knocking about.

Lots of activity in all the usual places, around the livestock, around the water troughs and animal feed.

The night was looking good, pretty steady.

The H&N FTT fly well in this barrel.

Funnily enough I'd shot one along the top of the concrete stone wall in the pic above. It dropped behind on the other side and landed on a large rat trap...double wammy.

Anyways I'd done enough and decided to call it a night, I still had to collect them all and bag them up which always takes time.

A few, at least 6 had been dragged off or dropped backwards into brick walls and couldn't be reached but i managed to find 34 of the 40 or so shot.

All bagged up and tied off for the burn site....

There was some weight in that bag....

Land owner was very pleased to say the least.

Nice pictures of the landscape ,looks a cracking place to shoot, thanks for posting(y)

Great shooting!
Great looking perm too!
Thanks for commenting 🙏. It’s a bit flat but can be shot safely with the right calibre, fine for air obviously and there’s no shortage of scaley tails.

Good shooting and fieldcraft Gary as usual, I reckon your landowners will erect a statue in your honour,
Good Luck 🤞 mitch21 John 👍👍👍👍
Afternoon John…..haha….they'd have me down every night. All land owners are the same aren’t they when it comes to pests eating their way through crops and livestock food….they want it dealt with 🤷‍♂️. I try and get down every 3 weeks or so unless they contact me with a specific issue. Cheers for the flowers John…speak soon 👍

What a great permission 👍
Fantastic results for the night!
Yeah it’s a good spot, I’m fortunate that all my perms are in the same area so quite close to each other. I’ve just received a text today from another land owner about rats on the back of land owners talking to each other, there’s just no end to it 🤷‍♂️. Thanks for reading pal.
