Is it possible for a permanently banned member to ever be reinstated? I am thinking of Peter Binfield in particular. I think it was unfair to ban him for ever, a temporary ban maybe but not permanent. I realise I am not a mod or perhaps don't know the full story but I don't think he deserved it. He was only promoting the arms fairs for the good of the community.

There gaff,there rules.
I certainly dont think there's a single moderator on these forums that is in anyway heavy handed in relation to handing out punishment in relation to the breaking of the forums rules which in all fairness aren't exactly draconian in any way whatsoever.

If you do something wrong either intentionally or unintentionally then man up & apologise for your discretion rather than taking the pet.

I agree and I am in no way trying to be contentious. Just airing an opinion or question. If the mods, who I have the greatest respect for, think this post might get out of hand then please close it down. Once again not my intention criticise or stir things up.

Permanent bans are normally the last resort after repeated transgressions for which you've been warned about or had a previous temporary ban.
A permanent ban given straight away i.e before any warning(s) or temporary ban is given as far as i understand is usually reserved for those that would bring the Forum into disrepute i.e suggesting or indulging in dishonesty, illegal practises etc.

I believe - rightly or wrongly - that the vast majority of people being banned have had private shots across the boughs which they have ultimately ignored Head bang 65

There will be others who's actions demand an instant ban, but they are normally quite public, and normally quite obvious Shrug tt

I don't know the person involved or the reasons for their ban, but like others have eluded to, this should have been a PM to the mods, because as it is, although you say your not trying to "stir things up" - you kind of are

I can't for the life of me see how this is stirring things up. If it is, for which I apologise then there are some very thin skinned people on n here. Shall we end it right here.

The mod team have overturned permanent bans before when new evidence has come to light and we felt we may have been too harsh.

We were asked to consider Binners' ban recently via direct message and after reminding ourselves 'why' he was banned the decision remained a firm no.

Have you read his ban reason? Page 5 or 6 I think he's on.

He wasn't just banned for advertising his 'gun fair'. There were things going on behind the scenes that were deemed unacceptable and the main reason for his banning.

As usual people don't have all the facts.
Please trust the mod team is fair and permanent bans aren't handed out willy nilly.

👍🏼
