New DNT Zulus tubed 4K scope

The battery charger is a good price of kit … mainly because it’s a usbc connection so connects to any newer phone chargers good thinking dnt

Has anyone tried it at night yet ?

I’ve had a quick look but it’s raining here so it’s not a true test … but I looked with a led ir and a vcsel ir … looks pretty good

I had a chance to compare the below last night using the same ir.

Alpex 4k
Alpex 4k lite
DNT 4k

All my own opinions and I do like the 4K lite a lot but I have no dog in this fight I have all 3 bought by myself.

Daytime

The DNT wins at x20 mag in terms of pixelation. It’s hard to quantify but its marginal so I would say 5% better at lower mags it’s not worth considering.

At my normal 4-10 mag ranges it makes no difference and the 5% might be 1-2%.

But the DNT was better for me overall.

Night

Pretty much the same but I find the Alpex 4K better at night than the 4K lite by 3-5%.

The DNT is better night/day than the Alpex 4k and lite but image quality at the levels these devices are at is so close other factors should sway your decision.

I am sure there are others things to consider.

What would I buy for sub 12 airgun use.

If you want the best it’s the DNT 4K tube but also consider I have only used/own a 3-12 V1 and have never tried a V2 so don’t know how the DNT V2 fairs against a DNT 4k tube or Alpex’s.

If you are on a budget pick up someone’s second hand V1 and buy a separate ir and mount you will still get 85-90% of the performance of any of the above. And have a great experience.

At £499 the Alpex lite is the best value out of the above as I don’t rate onboard ir’s.

The Alpex lite at £549 vs the V2 at £549 that’s a very tough choice for people to make.

The DNT 4K if it gets to £599 vs £499 Alpex lite I would go Alpex lite. £100 gets you a very good ir torch.

Alpex lite at £549 vs DNT 4k £649 it’s the lite again.

Alpex lite vs DNT 4k at £549 vs £599 it’s the DNT 4k.

So many things to consider the one thing I rank more highly than anything else is manufacturer support. I have been lucky and not had to use either manufacturer. No price difference can make up for this certainly not £100-£150.

Just read my post with lots of contradictions that’s how close it is as I am struggling myself to draw a firm conclusion. I would say the paragraph above should sway your choice regardless of cost.

What IR were you using? Ive seen a couple of videos of night time hunting and its looked very disappointing, trouble is we can’t talk about what these scopes or share links on what this scope and others are mainly going to be used for on this thread. Its a real shame that we can’t share footage.

NIGHT MASTER NM1 CL LONG RANGE LED LAMP WITH REAR FOCUS 940nm​

Sorry for text size it’s a copy and paste.

As you know the ir torch can make all the difference but for the ratting last night I needed 940nm and I like rear focus and dimmable with a power indicator.

I might give the 850nm with black sun pill and doubler a shot tonight.

But daytime the DNT 4K was superior at higher mags and this is coming from someone who really rates the 4K lite.

I also thought the DNT 4K was better at night if I set the DNT at 1080p but that could have been eye tiredness at this point.

I was 3hrs in on the rats and in my 50’s my eyes are not what they were.

Reality is Pard 008lrf, Ds35 50 lrf, V1 Zulus, 4k Alpex lite, 4k Alpex, Zulus v2, Dnt 4k get a half decent torch they will all get the job done. I could have used all the above and the outcome would have been the same.

That will be interesting the torch will be a big factor for sure.

All I can say is for my usage in terms of night time performance like for like torch wise I would rank them below. This is sub 12 and obviously the 4k lite was never designed to compete in this area you are looking at which you already know.

If it’s multi use consider the close range lrf performance you might prefer.

Sorry I can’t help more with 300 yard night foxing.

I had no issue with my v1 3-12.

Iv got my zulus v1 bc setup on the app and its working well, iv just purchused a v2 off the forum how do i set this up without affecting the v1 please

You connect to the scopes independently. Sending a ballistic profile to one does not affect the other.

All you need to do is setup separate profiles for each scope in the app and name them accordingly.

I have had no issues with zero, my V1 was on and off loads of rifles and test plates. Not once did I lose zero.
Any issue owners have had has been down to users using cheap dovetail adapters or plastic picatinny rails.

It’s wasn’t by a huge amount only by a few digits on the X or Y axis but it needed tweaking mostly every time I used them more than any normal optical scope ever did. Mounts were the ones supplied and used on both BRK ghost and Airmaks krait factory rails. Will wait to see a few more reviews on the 4K but if all looks good then it’s an order going to Blackwood for sure

Scope rings for the Alpex can be quite expensive which would even things out a touch.
