Hi all

I'm 66 and retired in 2020 due to after effects of Covid, Over the last two or three years i've really lost my get up and go and really can't be ar**d to do stuff any more! 😕

Not sure if it's just the getting old or maybe that I can't do a deal without getting breathless (Was asthmatic before I got covid!)

Seems all I do now sit and watch the telly (and get fat!)- Something that I wasn't ever into! 😊

Anyone else getting this way?

I may need a new hobby to catch my interests again!!

John.

Think its quite possibly from being locked up in our own houses or districts for 2 years.
I'm the same though, struggle to get excited by stuff I used to jump at..

I'm currently signed off from work, long term (multiple strokes) and where as I was on the go all of the time, now I find it an effort to do next to nothing some days... it seems that not being at work has taken away the urgency to fill my free time as there is always tomorrow 🤷🏼‍♂️, I'm just longing to get back to work and I'm pushing myself to that end, but some days ICBA sets in (I Can't Be Arsed) 🤷🏼‍♂️, try making lists of things to do and strike them off when done, it helps me sometimes

Apart from getting up everyday for 40 odd years to goto work everything else is a hobby. I pick it and put it down as I choose.

There is no nagging person with a list of chores that have to be done. Stuff will get done when they get done and not to some timetable. I have plenty of things that could and need doing but what's the rush?

I am least motivated now and where most think with an hour to spare they will just get that job done I leave it for another day. With all the time in the world I thought I would keep my car looking like new like I used to when I was working. It sits outside now with a layer of dirt on.

I think @briane sums it up nicely.

Twenty some years ago I found myself working underground in Norway, long story very short by the end of my first winter I was in the grips of SAD. The next winter I forced myself to the surface each day to experience something akin to daylight, it worked. I have absolutely no medical training at all beyond immediate first aid but I would suggest a walk around the block once a day. It can’t do any harm, costs nothing and who knows.

Not knowing what your interests other than airguns are, all I can say is good luck, look at your interests or find something new which you have always wanted to check out or do.

I am maybe 'lucky' in the sense that I am still working and probably will until I die, but I also have a lot of interests and started a few during/after the covid debacle, some of which I still pursue, others I have moved on from.

Getting fitter can, and should probably be one of those...

I'm continually trying to move forward but the Government(?) is pushing me backwards all the time with stupid laws and the crap they come out with which dampens the inclination to get on.

Similar situation here mate, without the strokes.

I get very fidgety if I'm shut in for too long. Thank god my legs still work so that I can just fk off whenever I need to.

As long as you are happy, who cares!? You’ve done your fair share and enjoy your hard earned pension.

Dear John,

Given your age and the fact you have a couple of serious debilitating conditions, you can expect to be a little lethargic.

If it's any consolation to you at all sir I also fail to get excited about things that used to get me bouncing off the walls.

As an example, a friend rang me yesterday and asked if I wanted to help out with the foxing on 12 different large poultry units... I thought at the time I could be letting myself in for some hard work here Shrug tt... I'll give it a go though... better to wear up than rust up mate 👍
