Logun MK1, Revamp Pimp my Logun :-)

HI,

I have a Logun MK1, took over a year now to get to what i wanted today i did for now the last part.

To strip the anodised aluminium coating i used Oven cleaner the liquid type god i did it so fast.

First part was to strip the stock.
Second part send to Mick / Logunator.
Third part, install regulator.
Fifth part But hook and front stand.
Sixth part get cheek riser done thanks to Rich for the lovely job.

Last part for now, done today.... see pics in order of process.

I don't know to be honest, the plan was to leave as it is buts it aluminum and i don't know how to seal it or i would leave as is shiny lol very shiny.
But i suppose the hard part is now done so either option is doable now.

About 30 minutes, but i suppose it depend on the coating if you are going to try, please do as i did use a test part
if possible, for me if it worked fine... if it didn't i would have just put carbon vinyl wrap back on..

Also note and i forgot to do this but i got away with it, the air chamber and part where valve pin goes, try to seal this off i forgot to do this
and for some reason, it had a sligh coating on after i dipped on oven cleaner i got this off using really fine wire wool.

Simple and honest answer i get bored easy today was just a what does it matter day just gave it a go
the stuff before this ye i actually thought about beforehand

Consider Anodising it... It will seal it and prevent oxidising. Plus side is you have done all the prep. Also you can choose any colour you want and it's not difficult. YT has many videos that are helpful.

Hi All,

Update, I tried to seal the aluminium so i wouldn't have a never ending issue with keeping the gun polished.
Nothing would take to it or at least i used, I gave up in the end and not its nearly back to how it was. A good learning curve or the same.

Also one thing i didn't think about when it stripped all anodised aluminium coating off, i didn't take into account.

A: it took the coating off the valve seat, remedy polished the valve seat again so all good now.
B: it took the coating off the inside of the air tube, used a slight larger or rings for regulator.
C: it took the coating off the inside where the barrel site, changed seals but was more a precautionary measure
D: Adjusted regulator as all of above made a change so i had to adjust again.

ye i am kinda inclined to agree I had a look back at old pictures, but it is what it is now ... the up side is i can always have the anodised coating done again as its already stripped off it's not a major issue to be honest. thinking about having it done again now depending on cost, so now it could end up an expensive lesson learned, I will see what best to do.

I have sent for a anodising kit this arrived today but now I don't know if I want to do all black or mixed
See below options... I am going to test on a small part first, then go for broke when happen I can do the process

I have already stripped all the gun down ready for this fingers crossed it goes ok... and the moral of this story is
don't strip the original coating off even if you do get bored like I did....

Now I will have to setup regulator again, once completed I think. at least this time I kind of know what I am doing regarding this.

So all you need now is a set of pellet gauges to suit your favorite pellets and a decent magazine spring because the original is too weak and much better with another one meshed into it.

Get your imagination head on... Anodising can be done with food colourings... So bright blue... Green... Red... You imagine it... You can do it.

Only one comment though chap . i would have hand stripped the cylinder with1200 wet/dry .
no way would i chemically strip a ali cylinder . ali can be really dodgy stuff around chemicals .
.

As for up grades see @Mark Palmer . he does a wonderful line in coloured laggy bands /duck tape /and foam add ons


Ps. It looked lovely in polished Ali . dont listen to them lot there all very strange
